Water
The Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) services to a few of the coastal barangays, but some still shares subscription of water with another household. The rest draw water from deep wells that are owned or shared among households. A small number of households use water from artesian wells, dug/shallow well-river or streams while most of the households use bottled water for drinking purposes.
Based on the data gathered by the Opol Health Center, there is 76.35% of households that has access to potable water supply.
However, we should not lose hope as the UKC Company has come to the rescue of providing the potable water for the Municipality of Opol by tapping the Bongcalalan River. In fact, it has already launched its ground-breaking ceremony last June 2018. Another Company, the Metro Cagayan Water Services has also committed to supply potable water. The LGU-Opol has also inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Prime Water of the Villar Group and a Memorandum of Agreement with the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan for a water supply study.
