WELFARE

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office has a total manpower of 2 registered social workers and one utility worker serving the needs of the 51, 163 populace.

 

Child and Youth

The 14 barangays of this municipality has 32 day care centres serving an approximate of 900 day care children ages 3-5 years old. These centres can also serve as a sanctuary of children who are sexually and physically abused, abandoned, and neglected.

Services like supplemental feeding is provided for day care children while counselling and referral services were provided to children in conflict with the law (CICL); the disadvantaged, abandoned and neglected. Skills for life and Life skills trainings were provided to the out of school youths (OSY).

 

Family and Community

In 2018, we have helped 230 individuals/families who were in need of burial assistance, medical/hospital assistance, education and transportation assistance under the Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation funding of the LGU. Also, we have attended to 119 individuals/families for the same program/services whose funding was downloaded to us from the Enhanced Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation of the DSWD. For the period January to May 31, 2018, the said program has served 217 individuals/families and 64 clients. A total of 2,136 household beneficiaries were also served for the Regular Conditional Cash Transfer scheme under Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program with a total amount of ₱ 25,498,900.00 from July to December 2017 to January 2018.  There is also an Unconditional Cash Transfer for ₱ 2,400.00 per household as an additional benefit that is to be received by the beneficiaries for 2018. While for the Modified Conditional Cash Transfer for Indigenous People, 50 household beneficiaries were catered to with a total amount of ₱ 832,800.00 covering the same period.

 

Persons With Disability and Senior Citizens

We have conducted community based rehabilitation classes for persons with disability at the 2nd floor of the Opol Public market serving 21 PWD children for SY 2017-2018. For the senior citizens, it has one (1) day center that served an approximate of 1,118 senior citizens during their monthly federation meetings and other activities. There are four barangays center namely at Bonbon, Igpit, Luyong Bonbon, and Taboc have their own day center wherein they can stay anytime of the day especially during the weekly or monthly meetings. In 2018, we have enrolled 790 indigent senior citizens under the Social Pension Program. Currently there are 1,763 indigent senior citizens of Opol receiving an amount of ₱ 1,500.00 per quarter. For the last 3 quarters (3rd and 4th quarters of 2017 and 1st quarter of 2018), we have conducted Cash Pay-Out amounting to ₱ 7,933,500.00.

 

PROTECTION

 

Peace and Order

The Municipal Police Station of Opol  has a total of  28 personnel composed of one 27  Non-Commissioned Officers and 1 Police Commissioned Officer who serves as the Chief of Police in the Municipality. With trained personnel, the police force has enough capacity to deliver protective services to the people of Opol .

The police force is being augmented by Barangay Police and the Barangay Zonal Teams who are considered as the force multipliers in the barangays to immediately respond to the protective needs of the residents.

With police initiatives and expertise in using crime solution strategies, crime solution rate is high. Police reports show that peace and order situation of the municipality of Opol is manageable. Therefore the municipality  is generally peaceful same with other adjacent towns.

 

 

Lives and Properties

The Municipal Fire Station has also one  Fire Marshall, 8  firemen and several fire volunteers. It is equipped  with one  fire truck and fire prevention facilities. Fire volunteers have been organized in the municipality  through  the Bantay Zonal organization.  In case of fire occurrence in Opol, there  will be immediate response with the available fire truck owned by the Asia Brewery, Incorporated stationed at El Salvador City to augment the operation in any fire incidence in the municipality.  Bayanihan system is also encouraged to respond to fire incidence.

 

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

For the victims of natural and made man calamities we have the our evacuation center located within the premis of the Opol Community College. Also, we have the churches of IFI, Roman Catholic, UCCP, SDA, and Bible Baptist located on the vicinity of the school which can accommodate 100-150 persons in a worst scenario case.

The municipality has an available relocation site for the informal settlers which is under development and is located in an interior barangay far from the mainstream.  The said site is said to be enough to cater the increasing number of households who are victims of natural and man-made calamities in order not to hamper classes of our elementary school children by which school buildings are being utilized during disasters.

The DRRMO is equipped with two 4×4 Van vehicles used as Ambulance and Evacuation vehicle.

 

OTHER SERVICES

 

Civil Registration

The Office of the Civil Register is in-charged with the implementation of the civil registry programs and projects of the LGU. With Ms. Marietta B. de Leon, the LGU was able to provide civil registry records.

 

Meanwhile on the conduct of Serbisyo sa Barangay, the LGU was able to tender various services.

 

Public Employment (as of 2018)

  • Registration of 2,084 applicants coming from the 14 Barangays of Opol, Misamis Oriental in the National Skills Registry System database of the DOLE – Region X.
  • Facilitated 1,186 applicants for local employment.
  • Facilitated 62 applicants for overseas employment.
  • Conducted 15 Special Recruitment Activities campaign joined by the 14 Barangays of Opol and attended by 14 local agencies and 7 overseas in the region and national level agencies.
  • Conducted trainings and seminars in cooperation with the TESDA – Region X such as Food and Beverage NC II; Electrical Installation Maintenance Services NC II; Cake Making Leading to Bread and Pastry NC II; Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II; Driving NC II; Massage Therapy NC II; and Entrepreneurship Program for Coca – Cola Star Access to Resources.
  • Conducted Career Guidance Coaching in partnership with the DOLE at the Opol National Secondary Technical School; OCC; and at Bagocboc National High School attended by all graduating students for them to prepare for their career path.
  • Endorsed 1,862 certificates for employment to walk-in registered applicants.
  • Employed 20 students under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
